Online College Classes - Can You Make Friends?

Since you are not physically sitting next to someone that semester, some wonder: can you make lifelong friends? So many people have stories of joining sororities or being on the track team. Pulling all-nighters and ordering pizza with your roommates almost seems like a rite of passage when you head to university.

Are you missing out if you attend college classes online? It depends what you expect to get out of your education. For traditional 18-year-old college students, maybe the experience of living on one's own is important. You can still participate in campus life and also take a handful of online classes. You can still meet others in your online classes, but may or may not be able to go out for drinks after your live chat. Perhaps though you are a nontraditional student who has a family and a mortgage, and have decided to take a different career path.
This is a completely different reason to be taking online college classes.
You aren't here for the life experience of going to school, but rather for the education that you will receive. It is far less about social needs.

But, the bonus of participating in online college classes is that you will inadvertently make friends as well.

Typical online college classes can include people from all over the country.
These people are generally working towards the same degree as you, though they may not always be in the same classes.

Your opportunity to network with others is great.

Take advantage and pick the brains of those colleagues.
You just may find yourself a new business partner or be able to take someone else's original idea and find a way to change it up to work for your situation.

Online college classes are full of social networking opportunities at any level.
All should take advantage!
